coffee machine
shortly after we came to China, we found ourselves hunting for a cool new coffee machine. We found a great piece, nothing fancy, but with a pump and all. and it produced excellent cappuccinos and macchiato and what not. it started showing signs of weariness, if I recall correctly, after around one year of superb service. It tended to be 'moody' for some months while resulting excellent coffee on good days, and a very messy blown-up kitchen on others.
we drank regular coffee for almost 6 months now. at home that is. shame. she really likes her cappuccino in the morning. served in the 'red cup if possible, please'. but the machine refused to cooperate and I was forced to seek resolution on the coffee forums.
and I found a solution! there was a rubber gasket that needed to be replaced. and I replaced it. and I was very happy and proud. and I impatiently prepared myself to once again, sip a good home made espresso. and than boom! coffee all over the place, just not in my little glass cup.
but we, long distance runners, will not give up. turns out there is another part that needs to be replaced! but, Murphy... the warehouse is out of stock. and I should wait ~2 months. how predictable.
last week the part arrived. and the coffee machine is live and kicking! and I have a feeling it is now better. I mean it was good, but now it knows it's dark days. it knows that boiling the water and foaming the mild and pushing the water through the ground coffee is not easy. it should not be taken for granted.
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall." said Confucius.
